DIISHA stands for Digital Innovations & Interventions for Sustainable Healthtech Action. This Pilot Project aims to drive digital health adoption despite existing challenges. It leverages digital innovations for various health system needs, benefiting the public, patients, and healthcare personnel. Our initiative necessitates advanced digital technologies for enhancing maternal, and child healthcare, managing infectious diseases, chronic conditions, and health system integration in low-resource settings.
Objectives & Takeaways
Health being a subject under the State in the concurrent list of constitution, its delivery, quality, and implementation changes from state to state in India. DIISHA’s objective through assetisation and monetisation is aimed to achieve a uniform health concept across states regardless of their expenditure and disposable income on healthcare in line with national initiatives like ABHA, Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadhi Yojana (PMJAY), National Health Protection Scheme (NHPS), National Nutrition Mission (POSHAN Abhiyaan), Mental Healthcare Act, National Digital Health Mission (NDHM), Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM), Mission Poshan 2.0, etc.
The primary objective of this healthcare pilot project is to demonstrate the practical applications and use cases of emerging technologies across diverse healthcare fields. By conducting real-world screening and diagnosis and gathering empirical data, we aim to showcase the efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and safety enhancements offered by digital methods and assetisation compared to traditional methods.

Intent
India witnesses a significant number of newborn fatalities and maternal deaths annually. Patient care in remote areas is often handled by Auxiliary Nursing Midwives (ANMs) and Accredited Social
Health Activists (ASHAs). Presently, around 9,00,000 ASHA workers in the country play a pivotal role in disease detection. Recognizing our country’s data, we are going to take DIISHA ahead.
Content
DIISHA aims to showcase the practicality of utilizing cutting-edge technologies in healthcare, in line with the Prime Minister’s vision. It empowers ASHAs by integrating technology, enabling reliable health data collection to fulfil India’s SDG3 objectives. This data will enhance healthcare services for rural communities and leverage DST healthcare provisions.
Extent
DIISHA will play a key role in achieving the government mission of conducting universal screenings, eliminating sickle cell anaemia by 2047, and becoming Atma Nirbhar Bharat in healthcare by upgrading and modernizing ASHA workers. DISHA will help India achieve the vision of improving universal health.
